The project involves setting up of a nuclear power plant (2×700 MWe, PHWRs) in District Mandla, Madhya Pradesh. A residential township is also proposed to be constructed as part of this project.

NPCIL plans to acquire 650 ha of land for the Nuclear Power Plant and 75 ha for the township.The water requirement for the plant will be met from Bargi Reservoir.

Status : on June 15, MoEF directed NPCIL to revise the project documents and submit the same afresh for further consideration of the Committee, as information / documents submitted by NPCIL did not contain information in sufficient detail, which is required for prescribing Terms of Reference (TORs) for undertaking detailed EIA study.
