Vainateya Power gets In Principle Nod for 1320 MW TPP in TN
Posted on August 30, 2010.Vainateya Power, a lanco group company is planning to set up a 2 X 660 MW Coal fired Thermal Power Station in Tamil Nadu, India. The power station is proposed to be a coastal plant near Tuticorin Port.
Project Details :
The 1320 MW green field Power Project shall be of Supercritical Technology and will be set up in Tamil Nadu, where a suitable and adequate area of land is being acquired.
The project would be developed in first phase of two units with the necessary infrastructure to cater to the requirement of the 1320 MW power project. Necessary provisions for future expansion (Ph-II) by another 2 x 660 MW shall be provided in the layout with necessary inter connection facilities.
Plant shall be designed to operate on blended coal by mixing Domestic & Imported coal. Imported coal is likely to be sourced from Indonesia and domestic coal is from Mines at Talcher under the command area of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited in the State of Orissa or any other area as linkage coal.
The plant shall also be designed to operate on 100% domestic coal. Around 7.5 million ton of domestic coal per year for operation of the station at a plant load factor of 90% is required.
Tenders : In August 07, 2010, the company invited Tender For Supply Of Steam Generators Or Steam Turbine Generators Capacity Ranging From 500 -800 Mw for the proposed power project..
Project Cost : Rs.2640 crore
Environment Clearance Status :
In June 2010, the company applied for Terms of Reference ( TOR ) with MoEF, for which the ministry said, it will place the proposal in 2nd Meeting of the Expert Appraisal Committee ( Thermal) scheduled during August 9-10, 2010.
In August 9, 2010, the Expert Appraisal Committee that took the project for consideration said that the project promoter should prepare the draft Environment Impact Assesment ( EIA) report based on the points raised during the presentation and should submit the EIA report to the state pollution control board for conducting the public hearing as per procedure.
The promoter has further been instructed that the final EIA/EMP report along with public hearing report and the requisite documents (including written objections, if any) shall be submitted to the Ministry for appraisal by the Expert Appraisal Committee for consideration of awarding environmental clearance
