Maharashtra State Power Generation Co – Dhopave Super-Critical Coal Based TPP

The proposal is for setting up of 4×800 MW Super Critical Coal Based TPP at village Dhopave, in Guhagar Taluk, in Ratnagiri Distt., in Maharashtra. Land requirement will be 1483 acres, which comprises of 868 acres of single crop agriculture land and 615 acres of waste land. The co-ordinates of the plant will be at Latitude 17032-30- to 17034-6- N to Longitude 73010-48- to 73012-12- E. Domestic coal will be used as fuel source. Coal requirement will be 16.80 MTPA which will be obtained from Mahanadi Coal Block, in Orissa. Jetty will be proposed and coal will be obtained through the jetty. Water will be sourced from Koyna project tailrace in Vashishti River. In take well is proposed near Shiral Pump House in Chiplun Taluk. Sea water is not proposed to be utilized. There are no national parks, wildlife sanctuary, tiger/elephant/biosphere reserves, heritage sites etc. within 10 km of the boundary of the proposed site.

The environmental and forests ministry informed the project promoter that after preparing the draft EIA the same shall be submitted to the SPCB for conducting the public hearing as per procedure of EIA notification 2006. The issues which emerge during public hearing shall be further incorporated in the Draft EIA/EMP report. The final EIA/EMP report along with public hearing report and the requisite documents (including written objections, if any) shall be submitted to the Ministry for appraisal by the Expert Appraisal Committee for consideration of awarding environmental clearance.
