BHEL to supply LP turbine equipment to NTPC
BHEL, which was in the news for faltering on its commitment to supply the LP turbine outer casing for NTPC’s 2×660 MW Barh Stage-II power project in Bihar by June 2011, has now promised to expedite the provision of all necessary equipment and deliver the same to the project site by the month of May this year.
With NTPC having already borne the brunt of BHEL’s lackadaisical attitude in the past, it is of utmost importance that the domestic engineering major stands by its word and completes the critical milestone as per the anticipated schedule.
BHEL has also committed to complete the supply of pressure parts for unit-5 by the end of March 2012. With regard to this activity, discussions have already taken place at the head quarter level for its timely completion.
The anticipated commissioning for the project has been scheduled for January 2014 and the cumulative expenditure in the current financial year, up till the month of December 2011, against the current year annual plan outlay has been pegged at Rs 1,141 crore.
